Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply left-hand or right-hand drive vehicles?
We only supply left-hand drive vehicles. Ford has advised that they have
no Mustang production plans for right-hand drive vehicles.
Does Speke Hall Motors have any demonstrator vehicles for test drives?
No, we do not have demonstrators. Our service is to offer customers the
best price and the vehicle will be delivered to the door on a vehicle
transporter.
Will the vehicle require modifications for use on UK roads?
Yes, the vehicles will require some minor modifications in order to pass
the Department for Transport ‘Single Vehicle Approval’ (SVA) Inspection. Our
service is to provide UK customers with a modified vehicle that has passed
the SVA inspection.
Do the modifications required for the SVA inspection affect the
appearance of the Ford Mustang?
We ensure that all modifications are carefully designed to minimalise
any differences to the standard vehicle. For example the reversing light in
the current light cluster will become the indicators, and a reversing lamp
and fog lamp will be fitted flush to the rear bumper on either side of the
number plate.
What about after-sales service including: insurance, parts and service?
Insurance, parts and servicing are now relatively easy to purchase,
though customers can purchase a spare set of brake pads and filters when
they order.
Does Speke Hall Motors modify the vehicles for the SVA inspection?
We have teamed up with a company that has already modified thousands of
vehicles that have passed the SVA inspection.
Do the Ford Mustangs come with a manufacturers warranty?
No, the manufacturers warranty does not apply to UK customers. All our
vehicles are supplied with a comprehensive 2 year Motorplan Platinum new car
warranty as standard.
Where is the Mustang built?
The new Mustang is built at Flat Rock, Michigan. The Mazda 6 is also
built there.
Can you supply the US Ford Mustang brochures?
Yes. Though due to their scarcity and our necessity of providing them to
genuine customers we charge £25 which is refunded on order. Our website
contains comprehensive information about specifications, colours and
options.
Do you recommend looking at any other websites to gather information
about the Mustang?
Yes we recommend viewing:
www.fordvehicles.com/2005mustang
This is Fords US website and contains full details of the vehicle.
Is it possible to order US dealer fit options?
Yes, we are able to offer the full range of US dealer fit options.
Do you offer finance?
Though Kent Car Imports has a consumer credit licence we do not offer
finance at present.
Can the price change between order and delivery?
The price in dollars is fixed on order, though the sterling equivalent
will fluctuate with the exchange rate. We recommend that customers consider
fixing the exchange rate, see the foreign exchange guidance in our ‘For your
security’ section.
Do you import from official Ford main dealers?
We only import from official Ford main dealers. The customer will
receive an offer confirmation on the supplying dealers headed paper, with a
contact name at the dealership before any funds are due. All vehicles are
ordered using Official Ford main dealer order forms.
Is the vehicle delivered to the door ready to drive?
Yes, all our vehicles are delivered to the door taxed, registered and
with the number plates fitted.
Will the vehicles be under sealed?
The vehicles arrive from the factory galvanised and painted. They are
not under sealed because they are sold in different US climates. Under
sealing is a US dealer fit option which is also available to UK customers.
Does the Ford Mustang come with
an alarm and immobiliser and if so is it Thatcham approved?
The Ford Mustang can be supplied with a factory fitted alarm and
immobiliser, however they are not Thatcham approved. Should you require a
Thatcham approved alarm system we can offer this as a UK fitted optional
extra.
Are there any hidden costs?
There are no hidden costs. Please be aware that Banks generally charge
£10-£25 for a wire transfer and Customs and Excise require the import tax to
be paid by bankers draft: approx cost £15. We also recommend that customers
protect the exchange rate. See ‘For your security’ section.
How are the vehicles insured in the period between payment and delivery?
The vehicles are fully insured for the purchase price paid to the Ford
main dealer. Marine insurance covers the vehicle during the period from US
docks to UK docks. The ‘Traders policy’ covers the vehicles during the SVA
testing and modifications and all our vehicles are delivered on transporters
to customers which are covered by ‘Goods in transit CMR and all risks
conditions’.
How can Speke Hall Motors be trusted to deliver its service?
We can provide customer references and also welcome visitors and status
enquiries. The company has been importing Ford vehicles since January 1999. |
